These two monster of a card is out now and both are undermining the other.
I would like to say i have not tested these two cards on my own since it is not possible for me to cash in on any of these cards, however i have read many reviews and seen many video reviews about these cards. I would like to share my 2 cents of what i have seen and it's current market.
There are no reason why either of the cards will not work for you their both monster and differ very little.
6990 vs 590
1. Both cards are very LOUD, however the 590 is quieter then the 6990.
2. In Malaysia - 6990 is cheaper at only RM2100.00-2200.00 compared to the 590 at RM2700.00-2800.00. That's a big difference RM600.00 (USD198.18 currency dated 3rd April 2011). How much is it in your country?
3. 590 runs great on Crysis 2 and 6990 has driver issues with Crysis 20. Won't be long till they fix this.
4. Nvidia's Driver cause a hassle where it blow the card up. Many fall victims. Where was the quality tester?
5.6990 is currently using a turbine type fan. If there was more then one it would have been cooler.
My Personal thinking i would get the 6990 cause it's cheaper. However if i had the money i won't get either. The reason would be the Heatsinks, i would rather wait for better cooling either by manufacturers or third party coolers which can cool these cards better.
Don't get me wrong, 590 is a good card. But i'm not ready to fork out an extra RM600.00.
