This alone tells me VALVE loves their Fans and Customers. A way to beat piracy. I got myself Left 4 Dead 2 - 4 pack package. And distribute it to my friends as a gift so we can have Zombie killing bloodfest together.
The offer was only online for 2 days. And this was a good promotional tool as well. Nothing says we love you gamers like a big fat 66% discount.

Valve has a lot of people confuse to as why Alien Swarm is free when they could have sold it on steam for a few dollar signs. As for me I believe this is a very smart move by Valve, Steam has always had a bad publicity since you’ll need steam to play Valve games, problem for gamers with low computer specs and etc… The point is Valve is attracting gamers to steam by placing a free game on their list and we all know free things always turns heads. Unlike Activision who tries to get every dime they can get their hands on as their attempting to involve fees to their medal of honor franchise, Call of Duty developers is keeping away from this plans and announce that Call of Duty games present and future will always be free, EA has not objected to this and that’s a good sign for all Gamers.
Alien Swarm is a co-op of 4 players on a mission to clear a facility from all alien infestation. I haven’t gone through enough of the game to see all that it has to offer however I can tell you that it’s a blast co-op with friends and killing every alien you see. It’s like Diablo (top-down view) with guns would be the best way to closely describe to gamers who has not touch the game yet. The options of welding a door shut is a nice feature in game to prevent aliens from attacking you from behind or use it as a defenses to keep aliens at bay till you exterminate the ones in the room with you.
The game is solid and would encourage anyone to try the game with friends.
