I was once stricken with a disease it made me ignorant to my family and relatives, I was cursing myself and others, smashing my keyboard every time I failed to realize what I have done, made me failed my friends. Everything around me was nothing more than an unattractive part of my life. Yes I was a World of Warcraft Addict. I was a mighty Blood Elf Paladin Tank, I believe that it was my destiny to be a paladin, if I remembered correctly I had TIER 6 or 7 armor set for raiding. That was a sad story indeed.


WHY are they addicted to WOW?

Bragging rights, yes being a successful PVP arena or Raiding guild, players receive rare rewards such as equipments making them stand out from other players. I know how this feels; an individuality in-game is born making me feel that I’m the HERO of Azeroth. This is why players dance with their characters in the middle of a Capital City showing off his or her equipments looking for praises from other WOW players.

Friends, friends are a source of approval and acceptance; this helps boost the Addicts Esteem ten-folds and praising from friends help a hell lot as well. This makes the players loyal to his or her friends, friends who they’ve never even met before. This is strange since these players are willing to forsake real friends for friends they met in WOW.

Fantasy world, a lot of players actually wants to be a HERO/EVIL Ones. Choosing a faction Alliance or Horde makes this possible. Well if you actually knew the lore of WOW, none of the fractions were actually evil merely both side made mistakes, this is where it all comes in. The game makes you feel a part of the world and developers did a damn good job at it. Players are so engross in the game that they lose themselves in the world and the concept of protecting the weak becomes real to the player. In the players mind everything is real or wishes it to be real. Join in the RPG server and you can see for yourself how dedicated these players are to be this character they wish to be and it takes effort to act as a troll I tell you.

Taking the time and effort to learn skill in-game and yet wanting it to be real it’s funny that most of them might not be able to start a fire, if left in the wild on their own for real.

For me personally I was an Addict because of friends and the seeking of individuality. The sense of Lost, Yes believe it or not a player feels a sense of lost when they try to quit. Why? For me, I felt all those long hours in front of my computer to earn all the rewards and friends I made throughout my life in this Virtual world of Warcraft was lost to me if I didn’t play it. Why? I guess it was the long hours I spent trying to get everything I can and at the end when I stopped I felt it was all for nothing if I didn’t continue.

Some of you might want to know how YOU can be free of this addiction? I can’t give you an answer but I can tell you is that when I stop playing the WOW world, was when a big step in my life filled in a gap. I was blessed with a child of my own. I had to care for my wife during the 9 months of hectic care. So what I’m trying to say is that your life needs to take a drastic change, or find something better.

Even now I feel the urge to play WOW and it’s beckoning me. There really isn’t another WOW out there. But it actually depends on your gaming preference, I just so happen to enjoy WOW more than other MMO’s. Action response in the game is very good, you’ll understand if you live in a country other than in the US and connected to a US server as I do. I have so far been kept away from WOW by financial problems and the care for my daughter already coming 12 months old.

For me at least, I won’t be returning to World of Warcraft anytime soon by then it is possible I’ll find something new. If you’ve read my blog from the start most of you know I’m a Battlefield addict, plus it’s a game I can stop when I need to.

Yes Another must buy game on the shelf. There be Dragons! Yes Finally a game with Dragons worth fighting.
